During Hospitalar 2023, ABIMED promoted a panel to discuss “Financing and investment in the medical devices sector under the ESG perspective”, which counted with Daniel Izzo, CEO of Vox Capital; Juliana Augusto Cardoso, executive secretary of the Secretariat of Economic Development of the State of São Paulo; and Gabriela Blanchet, founding partner of Blanchet Advogados.

“The acronym ESG gained traction in the early 2000s. Great events cause great changes and this is what happened in the pandemic. Companies have started to look even more at what impact their business has on society,” explained Blanchet.

As CEO of an impact investment fund, Izzo stated that companies need to think about the financial impact they are willing to bear in order to promote relevant social impact. Cardoso, in turn, evaluated that the medical devices and equipment sector has a very large social reach, and the pandemic itself made this relevance clear.

In relation to the current government investment, Cardoso explained that it is necessary to better distribute the resources, “to bring development and quality service to everyone. What the government is currently seeking is to decentralize the productive poles in order to improve the state’s competitiveness, attracting to the places with the biggest gap”.
