ABIMED believes that it has a significant role to play in issues that have a high impact on people’s lives. For this reason, it is continuously working to increase the population’s access to advanced health technologies, with the aim of improving the quality of life and longevity of individuals, as part of the Global Compact and in line with Sustainable Development Goal 3 of the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda, which provides for “ensuring access to quality health care and promoting well-being for all ages”. To ensure sustainable development, the organization supports ESG (environmental, social and governance) practices and advocates that they must be a priority for companies in the healthcare sector. In 2023, the organization brought together 12 successful experiences in the magazine “Iniciativas ESG – Associadas ABIMED” (ESG Initiatives – ABIMED Members), compiling solutions and strategies from companies in various segments that show how these principles are being applied in the medical industry.
Now the Association, through its ESG Committee, is working with Deloitte on a training course for its members on the main issues surrounding sustainable development. The training for members – “Strategic ESG for leaders who transform businesses”, focuses on the main issues surrounding sustainable development. The course – a partnership between Deloitte and Aya Earth Partners – has its program based on the pillars of sustainable environment, sustainable society, and sustainable management, and covers topics such as energy transition; waste management; diversity, equity, and inclusion; Society 5.0; the 2030 Agenda; governance structure; business ethics and integrity; risk management; among others. Information about the course can be obtained by e-mailing comunicacao@abimed.br.
