One of the partnerships that were born during Hospitalar 2023, held in May in São Paulo (SP), is already beginning to bear fruit for the medical device industry. On August 3rd, Saber ABIMED held an important webinar with the participation of the Superintendence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (Suframa) on the “Tax Incentive Policy of the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM) to the health products industry”. The event had as guests the executives of Suframa: João Bosco Gomes Saraiva, superintendent; Luiz Frederico Oliveira de Aguiar, executive deputy superintendent; and Camilla Jacquelinne Medeiros Carneiro, engineer of the General Coordination of Industrial Project Analysis (CGPRI). The moderator was Silvio Garcia Júnior, new manager of Institutional and Government Relations São Paulo of ABIMED.
Aguiar spoke about the “Tax Benefits for the Health Products Technology Industry”, presenting the regulatory frameworks administered by Suframa and the Basic Productive Process (PPB). Carneiro led the presentation on “The Process of Implementation of Industries in the Manaus Free Trade Zone”, detailing the necessary steps for the establishment of new companies in the area covered by the agency.
The conditions for companies to take advantage of tax benefits, such as the implementation of quality standards and an independent audit report, were also addressed.
Arthur Lisboa, general coordinator of Foreign Trade and International Affairs at Suframa, told the municipality’s website that “the initiative strengthens a strategic industry segment, which is the health and medical equipment hub, represented by ABIMED”. It is worth remembering that the entity brings together members who account for 65% of the medical equipment and devices market in the country and employ 174 thousand employees.
