The United Nations (UN) Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world, with more than 18,000 companies in 164 countries, which supports measures to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), so that the planet becomes fairer and more equal. The action’s Brazil Network is the second largest in the world, with more than 1,900 participants.
ABIMED is a signatory to the Global Compact because it believes it has a relevant role to play in issues that have a high impact on people’s lives. So much so that in its Vision and Purpose, the organization establishes as a continuous action to expand the population’s access to advanced health technologies, aiming at the quality of life and longevity, in line with SDG 3, which provides for“ensuring access to quality healthcare and promoting well-being for all ages”.
To ensure sustainable development, the Association supports ESG practices and advocates that they be a priority for companies in the health sector. The organization recently brought together 12 successful experiences in the magazine “Iniciativas ESG – Associadas ABIMED” (ESG Initiatives – ABIMED Members) in 2023, compiling solutions and strategies from companies in various segments that show how these principles are being applied in the medical industry.
