Diálogos ABIMED: Digital Transformation

Publicado em 23/06/2023 • Notícias • English

The news arising from the digital transformation in the segment of medical equipment and devices was the theme of the debate that gathered Fabrício Campolina, president of J&J MedTech; Eli Szwarc, Latam Informatics Medical Leader at Philips; Manuel Coelho, head of Enterprise Services Brazil at Siemens Healthineers; and Dr.  Giovani Cerri, president of the Councils of the Institutes of Radiology (InRad) and Innovation (InovaHC) of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Medical School of USP (FMUSP) and president of the Council of the Health Coalition Institute (ICOS).  The event was promoted by ABIMED on May 24, during Hospitalar 2023.

Cerri spoke of the large number of InovaHC partners working together to create projects with a social focus. For him, digital transformation, which reduces costs and improves the quality of diagnosis by minimizing errors and increasing efficiency, will have a major impact on healthcare in the coming decades.

According to Szwarc, from Philips, technology is the answer to most healthcare problems. “However, the digital transformation occurs after the analog one, which is us. It is an illusion to think that it starts with hard; it starts with soft,” he added.

Coelho, from Siemens, talked about the importance of an open and collaborative ecosystem to solve the industry’s problems. For Campolina, from J&J MedTech, the big barrier to digital transformation is people, not devices or technology. “Transformation needs to take place within organizations. Companies have to evolve to agile ways of working and the server leadership style, laying the foundation for innovation.”
